X-th INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON TAU LEPTON PHYSICS Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics, Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Science, Novosibirsk, Russia September 22 - 25, 2008 SECOND BULLETIN 1. Place and Date The X-th International Workshop on Tau Lepton Physics (TAU08) will be held at the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics, Novosibirsk, Russia from September 22 to 25, 2008. This Workshop continues a tradition of the regular scientific meetings, the first of which took place in September 1990 in Paris. The previous Workshop was organized in 2006 in Pisa, Italy. The Workshop will focus on the recent progress in tau lepton and neutrino physics as well as in related fields. The first session of the TAU08 Workshop will commence on Monday morning, September 22 and the Workshop will end on Thursday afternoon, September 25. This year the Workshop will be followed by a Satellite Meeting "On the Need for a Super-tau-charm Factory" held at the Budker Institute on September 26-27. The goal of the meeting is to discuss a feasibility of an electron-positron collider operating in the c.m.energy range 3-5 GeV with luminosity up to 10^35 cm^2 s^{-1} as well as physics and experiments at such a machine. 2. Scientific Program of the Workshop The topics to be considered are: Main parameters (tau lepton mass, lifetime, leptonic branchings) Hadronic decays and QCD CP violation in tau production and decay Decays into kaons Lepton flavor violation Lepton g-2 Neutrino Physics Tau lepton physics at hadron colliders Future There will be no parallel sessions. Invited and contributed talks will be presented at the plenary sessions. Several poster sessions are also foreseen. Participation is by invitation only. The Organizing Committee welcomes contributions on the topics above. 6. Registration All interested in attending the Workshop and Satellite meeting are welcome to register at the workshop website http://tau08.inp.nsk.su Please follow the recommendations specified there to facilitate preparation of visa invitations. Registration fee of 400 Euro should be paid in cash upon arrival (at registration). It covers lunches, coffee breaks, reception and conference dinner, transportation from/to Novosibirsk airports/railway station, conference proceedings and social program. 7. Proceedings The Workshop proceedings will be published in Nuclear Physics B (Proceedings Supplements). All talks from the plenary sessions and selected talks from the poster sessions of the Workshop will be published in the proceedings. Contributions should be prepared in accordance with the standards of the journal and submitted to the Organizing Committee before December 10, 2008. 8. Hotel Accommodation Participants of the Workshop will be offered single (default option) or double rooms in the two-star hotel of the Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Science "Zolotaya dolina" ("Golden Valley") located close to the Budker Institute (15 min by foot). Address - Iliicha Street, 10, Novosibirsk, Russia, RU-630090. Phone - +73833303609. Web page - http://gold-valley.ru/about_hotel.php?lang=eng The approximate price of an ordinary single room is about 35 Euros/night, the price of a double room with one or two beds is 50 Euros/night. The final amount to be paid for the hotel will include a booking fee which is 25% of one day stay. Check-in and check-out time is midday. The prices above are very special discount prices valid for advance booking made via the Workshop Organizing Committee only. Please note that regular hotel prices (i.e. in case you will book a room yourself) are approximately 2.5 times higher (85 Euros/night and 120 Euros/night, respectively). And finally, all prices (both special and regular) are subject to change. The final prices will be fixed on September 1st, 2008. Please note that as default, ordinary single rooms will be booked. Participants can request a double room by e-mail to the Secretary of the Local Organizing Committee. Provide us with your arrival/departure dates/time not later than August 25, 2008. 9. In banks of the Academytown there is also cash currency exchange. Some Novosibirsk banks also have a Western Union service. 10. Visa information We will prepare an official invitation (certificate) for your visa application which will be issued by the Local Authority Department of Foreign Affairs. Its preparation takes about four weeks, then it will be sent to you by express mail. With this invitation you should apply for a visa to Russian Embassy/Consulate where consideration can last about one week. Therefore, the Organizing Committee asks you to fill the Registration form at http://tau08.inp.nsk.su as soon as possible. Also please send a copy of the first double page of your passport where your photo and main personal data are placed: this is a mandatory requirement. A scanned color passport copy (NOT MORE THAN 3 MB IN SIZE) attached to the Registration form as a JPG/pdf file is acceptable and preferrable. 11. Transportation Please note that to get Novosibirsk local time, one has to add six hours to Greenwich (Universal) time. The Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics is situated at Lavrentyev av., 11, in the Academytown of Novosibirsk, 30 kilometers from the center of the city and main railway station and 50 kilometers from the International Novosibirsk airport Tolmachevo. The common way to reach Novosibirsk is via Moscow. There are at least five daily flights: from Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport (terminal 1) and from Domodedovo to Novosibirsk airport Tolmachevo. Please note that the distance between Moscow airports Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo is about 100 kilometers. Transportation between these airports is not convenient. We recommend you to plan your flights in such a way that there is no need to change airports in Moscow. Most of the international flights arrive to Moscow airport Sheremtyevo (terminal 2). The distance between Sheremetyevo terminals 1 and 2 is 6 kilometers. Once an hour there is a free shuttle between the terminals. The easiest, but quite expensive (40 Euros) way is to take a taxi. Novosibirsk can be also reached by plane via St. Petersburg, Khabarovsk, Vladivostok, Hannover, Frankfurt, Beijing, Seoul, Tashkent. Please consult your travel agency for details. All participants will be met at the Tolmachevo airport, and the transportation to the hotel will be provided. We therefore ask all the participants to submit the flight information to the Organizing Commitee in advance. 12. Weather Usual weather at this season is quite mild with the day temperature from 10 to 18 degrees Centigrade. However, drastic changes of temperature are sometimes possible and we recommend to have some warm clothes. 13.
